Offensive Facebook Posting

Facebook has an application called "We're Related." It is supposed to be used to make your own family tree, and to add your Facebook friends that are related to you, into the family tree.

On April 1, 2009, as an April Fool's joke, they sent out a personal message to all users of that application that they were confirmed as a 4th cousin, once-removed of Barack Obama.

I found this offensive and a cruel joke to those that do not agree with Obama's socialist agenda. From postings on that applications page, apparently others found it offensive too.

I first thought it was somehow sent from a friend because I'm outspoken on Facebook about my displeasure with Obama and his policies. When I went to the application I found a multitude of message both for and against the message that was sent out, and that it was an April Fool's joke. Then I immediately posted my own message that I was leaving that application. I reported them to Facebook that I was sent an offensive message, then I blocked and deleted the application and posted it on my own wall as to what I thought about them.

I bet if they had done the same anytime in the last 8 years using Bush instead of Obama, that application would not exist anymore.

Sally:I was not at all impressed - in fact I was mad at the harrasment - I was ready to get out my family histories to prove it wrong. If he were a distant cousin he would be an embarrasment to the family - my grandmother would roll in her grave at his actions. Soooooooo glad it was a bad joke.

Miriam:Pretty good April fool's; but In knew it was not so due to my Mom has always been in to genealogy for our family ; both sides for along time. I afraid it would not be a compliment to me; as I will not disgrace the office of President but I don't agree or have any respect for this man. Guessyou figured I did not vote for him.

Paula:I found this to be a most distastful joke. I thought this site would not produce spam. I checked it, not because I hoped it was true, but because I hoped to verify its falsehood attempt to discover how a confirmation could be given when an inquiry had never been made. Kindly keep your trash to yourself!!!

I just noticed a trend: I picked all the posts over 10 pages of wall posts that found the message offensive and put them here, except for a few really offensive messages themselves. The trend is that most of the offended people are women? Isn't the Democratic Party the one that is supposedly the 'women's party?'

7 were from men. 18 from women.
